Badass of the Week:
Pedro Martínez
A reporter once said, "Your fastball is slowing down, it's only 89mph now".
Pedro replied, "You stand in the box I'll whip an 89mph fastball at you.  We'll see if you hit it."
Pedro kicks the ass of a seventy year old man and doesn't even give a crap.
Earlier in the game he threatened to peg Don Zimmer in the head with a baseball.
If there was ever a baseball player that was totally badass it would be Pedro Martinez.  The Red Sox pitcher is notorious for beaning players out of spite or retaliation, and then when the player gets pissed off he just gives them a totally blank expression like he doesn't even give a shit.  He's the kind of player that if he isn't on your team you totally hate, but if he is on your team he's probably your favorite player.  So while every other team is yelling, "Dude, Pedro is a bitch and a dirty player" Boston fans are like, "Get him Pedro!  Nail him with a fastball!", and he usually does.
Aside from the fact that he beans someone whenever the other team pitches a little too far inside on Manny Ramirez, Pedro is also a kickass pitcher.  He's a three-time Cy Young Award winner and a seven-time All-Star.  He was even offered a spot in the AL lineup this year when Tim Hudson went on the DL but declined, hopefully as a little "fuck you" to Joe Torre.  So while Curt Schilling's numbers are a little better this year, Pedro Martinez's take-no-bullshit-from-anyone attitude is what puts him in the Hall of Badassitude.
